| | | THE HISTORY 1959 The Sematic involvement in the elevator industry begins with Mr. Francesco Zappa. Thanks to his many experiences in different areas with companies in Italy and abroad in 1959, he starts a company named Zappa in Cinisello Balsamo (near Milan) to manufacture elevator doors, cars and car frames for the Italian elevator market.
1968 The first Sematic automatic sliding door is manufactured. This door is driven by an AC motor with an opening/closing harmonic action, better known in the next years as Sematic III .
1973 The company moves to Osio Sotto (Bergamo) and changes its name into Sematic Italia spa. The specialization in elevator doors increases thanks to investments in products, product certifications, production process, markets and organization.
1982 The consequence of these R&D studies leads to the new product Series Sematic 2000: a DC drive car door operator with linear belt traction. This system, first on the market, advances the elevator market evolution by 15 years.
1994 Sematic Italia achieves the UNI EN ISO 9001 Quality System Certification.
1996 Sematic loses its founder Francesco Zappa.
1997 The product range is better defined by launching on the market of the Sematic 2000 series: Sematic 2000 SC, Sematic 2000 C, Sematic 2000 B, Sematic 2000 G and Sematic 2000 HD . This product range will be later on widened.
1997 Sematic takes part in its first exhibition: Interlift 1997 in Augsburg (Germany).
1997 Launch of the Sematic Encoder System © drive (DC-PWM technology).
1998 The ISO 9001 Quality System is approved conforming to the Annex IX (Modulo H) of the Lift Directive 95/16/EC.
1999 Launch of the Sematic Brushless System© drive (Brushless-PWM technology).
2000 Sematic Italia spa plays a decisive role for the Sematic Group foundation.
2001 Launch of the new round doors series Sematic 2000 R
| 2002 Sematic achieves the UNI EN ISO 14001 environmental Certification. | | | | | 2003 Launch of the new series Sematic 2000 SWS without mechanical coupling, ideal for inclined elevators.
2004 Launch of the new series Sematic 2000 C-MOD for the modernazation sector
2006 The Sematic Group has recently completed the construction of the new “Sematic R&D Engineering” building at the manufacturing plant in Osio Sotto (Bergamo-Italia). This new building has the benefits of offering a complete test laboratory and show room, and it now completes the first step in consolidating the Sematic Group engineering for the automatic door business.
