Sematic Encoder System F.A.Q.

Q-00005: Is there a specific setting for glass panelled lift doors?
A: Check the EPROM release: for versions after 16/03/1999 a specific flag can be set to limit the maximum opening speed at a parameter value of 30. This helps reducing the finger trapping risks and can be used in conjunction with other safety measures (i.e. friction coefficient reduction etc.).

Q-00006: Why the Sematic Encoder System sometimes performs a self-learning cycle (goes low speed)?
A: The controller itself NEVER performs the self-learning cycle (except for the Double TB option). When the door is moving with slow speed it means that a reset cycle is being performed; this is completed when the controller first reaches a door closed position, and then continues with the opening run to verify the correct stored length of travel. A reset cycle is made after a power failure or after an error has occurred; in other words, the controller is looking for a starting point, not for a run length value.

Q-00007: How the Sematic Encoder System performs the automatic re-opening when a person or an obstacle comes into contact with the doors?
(EN81-1/2:1998 8.7.2.1.1.3) A: In the absence of any light-barriers or sensors on the lift, when an obstruction is detected by the controller (i.e. an increased current is required by the motor during the closing phase), then the door controller informs the main lift controller via its IM relay contacts; the response of the controller then depends on the settings. With the reopening parameter set to INTERNAL the controller does not wait for an opening signal from the main lift controller and re-opens by itself; with the above mentioned parameter set to EXTERNAL the controller waits for an opening signal from the main lift controller; in this event, if the opening signal is missing the doors keep on closing but at low speed (= reduced kinetic energy) and the controller records a RE-OPEN FAULT alarm.
